FIRST RECONCILIATION AND FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION
The elementary (grades 2 to 5) sacraments program, Go Seek Find, is a reference to Jesus’ words—to seek first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness, and all things will be given to us (see Matthew 6:33). Jesus assures us that if we seek this Kingdom of love and peace, justice and mercy, we will find it. If we knock, the doors will be opened (see Matthew 7:7–8).
The doors to the treasure of the sacraments—in particular, the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist—are open to us. With the help of this program, we will open the doors of these treasured sacraments to our children. God’s Gift or Believe Celebrate Believe text materials will assist older students (grade 6 to 12) in their journey to find the treasure of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.
In addition to catechesis, eligible children in the second grade or above will have the option of entering our sacramental preparation process.
Requirements to enter the sacrament preparation program are:
The child must be in the second grade or above.
The child must be baptized.
The child must have attended one previous year of Catechesis or Catholic School.
The child must be currently enrolled in Catechesis or Catholic School.
Parent and child must attend meetings/activities as noted on the calendar.
The parent must be willing to assist their child in the preparation process using the at home guide to teach the lessons at home.
The family has made a commitment to attend Catholic Mass on Sunday.
